Firefox 3.6 Released

Hot on the heels of Microsoft's Internet Explorer emergency security update following cyber-attacks on Googles email system, Mozilla have announced the immediate release of version 3.6 of their own popular web browser, Firefox.

The announcement was made on the 21st January 2010 via the Mozilla blog amid rumours circulating the web industry that the new version release was imminent.

Firefox 3.6 claims to be more than 20% faster than its predecessor with improved Javascript performance, faster start-up time and overall better responsiveness.

One of the more fun additions is what Mozilla are calling 'Personas' : themes that users can customize and interchange whilst browsing and without having to reboot. The release includes full built-in support for html 5 audio/video and improved versions of FormComplete - intelligent form field completion.

For web developers Firefox 3.6 offer some cool new features including support for the new Web Open Font Format (WOFF), CSS Gradients and even Device Orientation, a feature which exposes the current orientation of laptops and hand-held devices to Web Pages.
